Snoqualmie Falls, the centrepiece of the Sunday plan

Sunday · July 26, 2026 · one day, nine stops, 11 a.m. start

Sunday, hour by hour

Built around one fixed point: the 7:15 reservation at Sushi Kashiba. Lunch lands before Snoqualmie so the falls are not done on an empty stomach, and every stop below has had its Sunday hours checked against the operator.

The day

11:00–11:30Base

The Airbnb — Belltown Court

Belltown

Day starts at 11:00, out the door at 11:30. The first stop is a five-to-ten minute walk, so the car stays parked until Pioneer Square.

  • Leave at 11:30. Nothing needs the car until 12:15, when you walk back for it.
  • Pack for two climates: downtown is mid-70s, the falls overlook runs cooler and damp with spray.

Belltown streetscapes — the neighbourhood, not the building itself.

11:40–12:15Coffee

Fulcrum Café

590 Bell Street, Belltown

A 5–10 minute walk from the Airbnb, so you are ordering by about 11:40. Espresso, pour-over, or whatever the seasonal drink is.

  • Open 8 a.m.–6 p.m. on Sundays, so a late-morning visit is comfortable.
  • 35 minutes here. Then walk back for the car — that round trip is why the next block is 20 minutes, not 15.
12:15–12:35Drive

Belltown → Pioneer Square

≈15 min

Park on the street in Pioneer Square rather than stacking this onto Uwajimaya's two-hour validation window — that clock should only start when you arrive for lunch.

12:35–1:20Walk

Pioneer Square + Occidental

Pioneer Square

Forty-five minutes: Occidental Square, the brick blocks along First Avenue, and Waterfall Garden Park. Enough to feel the neighbourhood without eating into the falls.

  • Occidental Square: cobbles, plane trees, the 1909 pergola, totem poles — an open public square with no hours to worry about.
  • Waterfall Garden Park, 219 2nd Ave S: a private pocket park with a 22-foot waterfall in a courtyard. Open daily 8 a.m.–5:45 p.m. per the Pioneer Square Association, though some listings wrongly show it as weekdays-only — if the gate is shut, the square is a block away.
  • Design-book detour if you want one: Arundel Books on Occidental is open Sundays.
1:20–1:30Drive

Pioneer Square → Uwajimaya

≈10 min

Short hop into the Chinatown-International District. Park in the Uwajimaya garage — validation starts now.

1:30–2:30Lunch

Uwajimaya + Kinokuniya

Chinatown-International District

Browse the market and the Kinokuniya bookstore, then eat in the food hall. This is the meal that protects the rest of the day.

  • Open daily 8 a.m.–9 p.m.; up to two hours of validated parking with a $20 purchase.
  • Be back in the car by 1:50 sharp — this is the hinge the whole afternoon swings on.
2:30–3:25Drive

Seattle → Snoqualmie Falls

≈45–55 min

I-90 east to exit 25, then Snoqualmie Parkway north to WA-202. Weekend traffic can add time.

3:25–4:15Falls

Snoqualmie Falls

Snoqualmie

Park in the large free lot across the pedestrian bridge. Upper observation decks, photos, and a look at a 268-foot waterfall — the Salish Lodge grounds loop only if the drive out ran clean.

  • Skip the lower trail. With a 50-minute window it is not close — the main viewpoint is 200 feet from the lot and that is the whole visit.
  • The main viewpoint is roughly 200 feet from the free lot; the park is open dawn to dusk and leashed pets are permitted.
4:15–5:15Drive

Snoqualmie → Olympic Sculpture Park

≈60 min

Straight back on I-90 west, then north through downtown to the waterfront end of Belltown.

5:20–6:00Park

Olympic Sculpture Park

Belltown waterfront

Walk the central route down through the park toward the water. Do not attempt to inspect every sculpture as though there will be an exam.

  • Free, open-air, and leashed dogs are welcome on the paths.
  • Calder's red Eagle framing the Space Needle is the one photograph worth stopping for.
6:00–6:45Reset

Back to Belltown Court

Belltown

Close enough to walk or drive back, change, and sit down for half an hour before dinner.

  • Leave for Pike Place at 6:45 even though it is a six-minute trip.
7:00Market

Pike Place, briefly

Downtown

Arrive early and walk the market or take a drink nearby. Pike Place has a supernatural ability to turn a six-minute journey into a minor geopolitical crisis.

  • The market itself is closed by then — Sunday hours are 8 a.m.–5 p.m. and the arcade merchants shut at 5. What is open at 7 is the streetscape: the Public Market sign, the MarketFront balcony, and the Overlook Walk down to the water.
  • That is the point of arriving early anyway — you are absorbing traffic risk, not shopping.
7:15Dinner

Sushi Kashiba

Pike Place

Shiro Kashiba's flagship. The reservation is the fixed point the entire day has been protecting.

  • Open Sunday 5–9 p.m. Counter seatings run at 5, 7 and 9 with only a few reservable seats; the rest is first-come. Seatings last about an hour and 45 minutes.
  • If your 7:15 is a dining-room booking rather than the counter, that is the normal shape — worth confirming which you hold.
  • If the day runs late, cut Olympic Sculpture Park. Never gamble with this booking.

The rule that saves the evening

Leave Snoqualmie Falls by 4:15 p.m. The 11 a.m. start pushed this 15 minutes later and took roughly 20 minutes off the falls, so the margin is thinner than it looks. If traffic pushes you past 4:15, drop Olympic Sculpture Park rather than gambling with the Kashiba booking. The sculpture park is free and open until dusk — it will still be there tomorrow. The reservation will not.
